WWE NXT Results (10/20/26): Dusty Cup Upsets, Halloween Havoc Tensions Rise, and Cruz Montana Loses Control

WWE NXT returned to the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, with the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic moving into its semifinals, Halloween Havoc rivalries intensifying, and a deeply personal main event that ended in absolute chaos.

With Halloween Havoc approaching on October 31, NXT continued building toward its annual Halloween spectacle. Tuesday's episode delivered two consequential tournament matches, another chapter in the increasingly volatile women's division, and a main event that demonstrated just how dangerous things can become when a rivalry stops being about wrestling.

Wagner Brothers Advance in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno del Mal defeated BirthRight's Charlie Dempsey and Lexis King to advance to the semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

The AAA World Tag Team Champions brought an impressive combination of size, athleticism, and teamwork into the contest. Dempsey's technical wrestling provided a compelling contrast to the Wagner Brothers' explosive offense, while King and the rest of BirthRight attempted to influence the match whenever opportunities presented themselves.

However, the situation became considerably more complicated when Zilla Fatu arrived and attacked members of BirthRight. The Wagner Brothers capitalized, with Galeno ultimately securing the victory following a frog splash.

The trouble didn't end with the bell. Fatu continued his assault on BirthRight, including a punishing Samoan drop to Dempsey. Later in the evening, Fatu approached General Manager Robert Stone about facing Dempsey at Halloween Havoc, even suggesting the return of the event's infamous wheel.

From a wrestling standpoint, the Wagner Brothers have become particularly interesting additions to this tournament. Their chemistry is already established, and their presence creates opportunities for NXT to showcase the increasingly interconnected talent across WWE and AAA.

Izzi Dame Defeats Layla Diggs as Zaria Rivalry Intensifies

Izzi Dame picked up a singles victory over Layla Diggs following a competitive encounter that saw both women exchange momentum throughout the match.

Diggs showed resilience and athleticism, including an impressive frog splash that nearly secured the victory. Dame, however, ultimately capitalized on an opening and finished the contest with a running knee.

The more significant development came afterward.

Zaria confronted Dame over her continued psychological games, particularly her use of photographs from Zaria's past. Rather than continuing the back-and-forth, Zaria offered Dame an opportunity to challenge for the NXT Women's North American Championship.

Interestingly, Dame made it clear that the championship wasn't what she wanted. Instead, she accepted a confrontation with Zaria at Halloween Havoc without the title on the line.

It's an intriguing direction for their rivalry. Championships ordinarily provide the motivation for a confrontation, but Dame appears considerably more interested in getting inside Zaria's head.

And sometimes, the most personal rivalries have absolutely nothing to do with gold.

Hank & Tank Shock the Creed Brothers

One of the evening's biggest results came when Hank Walker and Tank Ledger defeated Julius and Brutus Creed to advance in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

The match delivered exactly the kind of physical confrontation fans would expect from four powerful competitors. The Creed Brothers demonstrated their amateur wrestling backgrounds and impressive athleticism, while Hank & Tank relied on their chemistry, resilience, and willingness to absorb punishment.

The Creeds controlled significant stretches of the match, isolating their opponents and using their combination offense to prevent momentum from shifting.

However, Hank & Tank fought their way back into contention. During the closing sequence, Hank delivered a crucial maneuver behind the referee's back, allowing Tank to capitalize and secure the pinfall.

The victory sends Hank & Tank into the semifinals against the Wagner Brothers.

That matchup should be especially interesting considering the contrasting styles involved. Both teams are capable of delivering an intensely physical match, but the Wagner Brothers' international experience and aerial offense could provide a significant challenge.

The opposite semifinal will feature Vanity Project against Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno.

Tony D'Angelo and Grayson Waller Make Their Rivalry Personal

Tuesday's episode opened with a confrontation between Tony D'Angelo and NXT Champion Grayson Waller.

The two revisited their shared history, including their early days in NXT and their participation in WarGames. However, what began as a discussion about their careers quickly evolved into a heated exchange over resentment, opportunity, and respect.

Waller accused D'Angelo of receiving preferential treatment, while D'Angelo criticized Waller's obsession with attention and viral moments.

D'Angelo ultimately promised to put Waller through hell when they meet at Halloween Havoc.

This rivalry has an interesting foundation because both competitors have spent years developing their respective identities within WWE. Their history provides considerably more substance than a traditional challenger-versus-champion confrontation.

The championship might be the prize, but their resentment appears to have been building for years.

Kelani Jordan Sends a Brutal Message to Wren Sinclair

The scheduled contract signing between NXT Women's Champion Kelani Jordan and Wren Sinclair took an unsettling turn.

Sinclair arrived expecting to formalize their championship encounter at Halloween Havoc. Instead, Jordan appeared with a battered Kendal Grey, using Sinclair's ally to deliver a particularly vicious message.

The segment added another layer of hostility to a rivalry that was already becoming increasingly personal.

Rather than simply promising to defeat Sinclair, Jordan demonstrated that she was willing to target someone close to her opponent.

It's a familiar wrestling tactic, but one that can be tremendously effective when executed within an established storyline. Attacking an opponent's support system creates emotional stakes that a championship alone cannot always provide.

Other Developments and Upcoming Matches

Tavion Heights and Myles Borne continued their bitter rivalry after Heights confronted his former friend over their deteriorating relationship. Borne responded with a surprise attack, leading to a brawl that spilled into the backstage area and parking lot before officials intervened.

Elsewhere, General Manager Robert Stone announced that Jackson Drake will defend the NXT North American Championship against EK Prosper next week after Mini Vikingo was unable to compete in the originally planned six-man tag team match.

Chantel Monroe continued making her presence felt through backstage interactions and a promotional vignette. She is also scheduled to face Izzy Rain next week.

Meanwhile, Naraku delivered an ominous warning to Shiloh Hill ahead of their Halloween Havoc confrontation, teasing the use of a mysterious black mist.

NXT is clearly attempting to give several divisions meaningful direction heading into its next premium live event, while simultaneously using the Dusty Cup to spotlight its tag team division.

Cruz Montana and Dion Lennox End in Chaos

The evening's main event between Cruz Montana and Dion Lennox was never going to be a traditional wrestling match.

Their rivalry had already crossed deeply personal boundaries, with Lennox repeatedly referencing Montana's family and difficult upbringing.

Earlier in the evening, DarkState members Osiris Griffin and Cutler James attacked Montana backstage, further escalating tensions before the two competitors ever entered the ring.

Once the match began, the action was appropriately aggressive.

Montana and Lennox exchanged heavy strikes, power moves, and increasingly desperate offense. Both competitors demonstrated moments of dominance, but neither appeared particularly interested in settling their differences through conventional competition.

The turning point came when Lennox continued targeting Montana verbally, including another reference to his family.

Montana snapped.

The fight spilled outside the ring, where Montana drove Lennox through the LED portion of the announce table. Both competitors were counted out, but the official decision did absolutely nothing to stop the violence.

Montana continued attacking Lennox, eventually delivering a devastating stomp onto exposed concrete. When Montana attempted to use the steel steps, Cutler James intervened to protect Lennox and absorbed the blow himself.

The situation deteriorated to the point that police arrived and restrained Montana as the broadcast concluded.

It was a dramatic ending that left considerably more questions than answers.

As someone who has spent time inside a wrestling ring, there's a distinction between a physical rivalry and one that becomes personal enough to cloud a competitor's judgment. The most effective wrestling stories often explore that boundary, and Montana's actions demonstrated a character who had reached his breaking point.

The double count-out preserved the rivalry without giving either competitor a definitive victory, while the closing scene created an obvious reason for this conflict to continue.

Final Thoughts

Tuesday's NXT was primarily about consequences.

The Wagner Brothers and Hank & Tank advanced toward the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finals, while the women's division continued developing rivalries driven by personal animosity rather than championship aspirations alone.

Tony D'Angelo and Grayson Waller leaned into their shared history, Kelani Jordan escalated her psychological warfare against Wren Sinclair, and Cruz Montana demonstrated exactly what can happen when an opponent pushes too far.

Not every episode needs a championship change or a shocking return to feel consequential. Sometimes the most important developments are the ones that make the audience genuinely interested in what happens next.

With Halloween Havoc approaching, NXT has several stories worth watching.

And after Tuesday's explosive conclusion, Cruz Montana and Dion Lennox may have the most volatile rivalry of them all...
