Weekly Wrestling Review: WrestleDream Chaos, TNA's New Era, WWE Tensions and Remembering PAC
October 12–18, 2026 | TaelerHendrix.com
Wrestling certainly didn't take a week off, did it? Between championship shakeups, surprise arrivals, emotional moments and enough backstage tension to keep the rumor mill employed full-time, there was plenty happening across the industry. AEW brought the chaos to Orlando, TNA started settling into its post-Bound for Glory landscape, and WWE continued stirring the pot. So, let's get into some of the moments worth talking about.
AEW WrestleDream: Clockwork Carnage Lives Up to Its Name
AEW's WrestleDream took over Orlando on Saturday, October 17, and Will Ospreay walked out still holding the AEW World Championship. The inaugural Clockwork Carnage match brought together Ospreay, Adam Copeland, Samoa Joe, Darby Allin, Kazuchika Okada, Ricochet, Konosuke Takeshita and Mike Bailey in a format that combined staggered entrances, eliminations and a points-based finish. Ospreay ultimately pinned Copeland in the closing seconds to break a four-way tie and retain his championship. Talk about cutting it close! As a wrestler, I appreciate when a stipulation creates genuine urgency rather than simply giving everyone permission to hit each other with furniture. This one gave the competitors plenty to work with, although I'd be interested to see how the format evolves.
And that wasn't the only development coming out of WrestleDream. Ilja Dragunov made his AEW debut, Jay White returned, and Mercedes Moné successfully defended the AEW Women's World Championship against Thekla. Meanwhile, Bandido, Brody King and Hangman Adam Page captured the AEW World Trios Championships, while the Young Bucks retained their tag titles. Samoa Joe. Ciampa, Andrade and more! There were plenty of moving pieces, and some of them could make for interesting television over the coming weeks.
Jon Moxley, Mark Davis and a Match That Meant More
One of the more emotional moments of WrestleDream came when Jon Moxley defended the AEW Continental Championship against Mark Davis. Moxley retained after forcing Davis to pass out, but the story extended beyond the championship. With the wrestling world still mourning PAC, Moxley's performance carried an emotional weight that wasn't difficult to understand. Marina Shafir's encouragement and the support surrounding Moxley afterward added another layer to the moment. Sometimes wrestling tells its strongest stories without needing an elaborate explanation. This was one of those occasions.
TNA: Bound for Glory Changes the Landscape
Although Bound for Glory took place on October 11, the fallout carried straight into this week, and there's plenty to unpack. Leon Slater defeated Nic Nemeth to become TNA World Champion, while Indi Hartwell captured the Knockouts World Championship from Xia Brookside. Amazing Red became X-Division Champion, Shayna Baszler and Zoey Serrano captured the Knockouts Tag Team Championships, and Jason Hotch won the International Championship. Five championship changes at one event? That's one way to announce a new chapter.
Thursday's Impact took a particularly entertaining turn when Matt and Jeff Hardy were given control of the show in celebration of their 35 years in professional wrestling. Naturally, the Hardys weren't about to let the opportunity go to waste. They forced Nic and Ryan Nemeth to wrestle each other, with Nic picking up the victory, and put together a card that included syX defeating The Righteous in a tables match. Trey Miguel also won a five-man ladder match to earn a future TNA World Championship opportunity. I have to appreciate the irony of the Hardys booking a ladder match to help determine somebody else's championship future. Some things really do come full circle.
But there's another conversation surrounding TNA's biggest annual event, and it has nothing to do with what happened between the ropes. Questions about attendance have continued following reports of sluggish advance ticket distribution and uncertainty surrounding the final numbers. Just two days before the pay-per-view, approximately 2,162 tickets had reportedly been distributed, although that figure doesn't distinguish between paid admissions and complimentary tickets. It's worth remembering that distributed tickets and actual attendance aren't necessarily the same thing. Still, for a promotion looking to build momentum, perception matters. As someone who's spent years performing in front of crowds of all sizes, I can tell you that a passionate audience can make a tremendous difference. But there's also a business side to wrestling, and when we're talking about a company's flagship event, attendance is a legitimate conversation to have. The question now is whether TNA can turn its new champions and developing storylines into stronger ticket demand moving forward.
WWE: Old Problems, New Problems and Plenty of Unfinished Business
Over on Monday Night RAW, October 12 brought another chapter in the ongoing tensions involving The Bloodline and 946. Chad Gable successfully defended the Intercontinental Championship against Rey Fenix, but Fenix's night didn't end there, thanks to a backstage attack by Ethan Page. Roxanne Perez defeated Chelsea Green before Liv Morgan attacked Green afterward, while Oba Femi continued asserting himself by rejecting Paul Heyman's attempt to recruit him. That's quite a collection of personalities with something to prove, and very few of them seem interested in resolving anything peacefully.
Friday's SmackDown kept the drama moving. Cody Rhodes delivered a punt to Baron Corbin in front of Randy Orton, Ricky Saints attacked Rey Fenix, and Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley found themselves fighting off Fatal Influence. Meanwhile, Gunther's interaction with Danhausen offered a rather different kind of entertainment. Wrestling needs its intensity, but there's nothing wrong with a little absurdity mixed into the madness. The trick is knowing when to use it.
InDex Returns! Killer Kross and Scarlett Get a Not-So-Sweet Reunion
Meanwhile, independent wrestling delivered one of the week's more entertaining surprises, and this one came with a little history attached. At Awesome Championship Wrestling's Mischief Night 2 on October 17, Killer Kross successfully defended his ACW Championship against Joseph Sawyer in a No Disqualification match. Unfortunately for Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux, the celebration didn't last long. Sawyer continued his assault after the bell, and just when things appeared to be settling into another ringside confrontation, Indi Hartwell made her presence known. The real surprise? Samuel Shaw, formerly known as Dexter Lumis, joined the attack, reuniting the couple wrestling fans once knew as InDex.
For anyone who remembers their WWE NXT storyline, Hartwell and Shaw's reunion was a particularly entertaining throwback. These two went from an unconventional on-screen romance to an actual televised wedding in 2021, and now they're apparently back to causing trouble together. Scarlett certainly wasn't about to let the ambush go unanswered, challenging Hartwell and Shaw to a mixed tag team match. And considering Kross's nickname, that could turn into one killer confrontation. Pun absolutely intended! I love when independent promotions capitalize on established wrestling history without needing to spend months explaining it. Fans who remember InDex immediately understand the connection, while newer viewers have an intriguing rivalry to sink their teeth into. Now the question is where, and when, that mixed tag match will actually happen.
Remembering PAC: Answers, Grief and the Wrestling Family
Away from the storylines, one of the week's most significant developments concerned the passing of Benjamin Satterley, known worldwide as PAC and previously as Neville. On October 16, reports citing the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that his death had been attributed to bronchial asthma and ruled natural. PAC passed away on September 27 at just 40 years old.
There are certain performers whose ability transcends promotions, characters and championships. PAC was one of them. His intensity, precision and athleticism made him a remarkable talent to watch, and the outpouring of emotion across wrestling has been a reminder of just how deeply one performer can affect an industry. Behind every character is a person, and behind that person are people who love them. My thoughts remain with his family, friends and everyone continuing to process such a heartbreaking loss.
The Bigger Picture
If there's one thing this week demonstrated, it's that professional wrestling never really stands still. New champions are establishing themselves, established names are finding new challenges, and promotions are already laying the groundwork for whatever comes next. Some stories deserve their own deep dive. Others are simply worth a moment of recognition before the next bell rings.
And that's precisely why I love this business. The athleticism, the personalities, the unpredictability, the ridiculousness, and every so often, those moments that remind us there's something much bigger than wins and losses happening between those ropes.
Until next week, keep watching. There's always another story waiting to be told.
