WWE Raw Results: Solo Sikoa Returns, Stephanie Vaquer Chooses Both & Money in the Bank Comes Into Focus
If the job of a go-home show is to make me more interested in the pay-per-view than I was when the night started, Raw understood the assignment.
WWE rolled into St. Louis for the final Monday Night Raw before Money in the Bank with Roman Reigns and LA Knight staring each other down, Money in the Bank competitors beating the hell out of each other, Solo Sikoa suddenly returning from his kidnapping and Stephanie Vaquer deciding that choosing between Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan was apparently overrated.
Why have one challenger when you can just fight both?
Let's get into it.
LA Knight Has Something to Say to Roman Reigns
LA Knight opened Raw with one thing on his mind: Roman Reigns.
Knight promised to defeat the World Heavyweight Champion at Money in the Bank, and eventually Reigns came out to answer him.
This is one of those programs that doesn't need seventeen layers of explanation.
Knight wants what Roman has.
Roman doesn't believe Knight can take it.
Done.
Sometimes wrestling works best when you let two charismatic people stand across from each other and convince you that they genuinely want to fight.
And with Money in the Bank only days away, there isn't much time left for talking anyway.
Penta & Je'Von Evans Beat Bron Breakker & Austin Theory
This one started chaotic and basically decided that was where it wanted to live.
The Vision attacked Penta and Je'Von Evans before the bell, and things didn't exactly become more civilized from there.
With Money in the Bank looming, Evans and Penta already have enough reason to be looking over their shoulders. Bron Breakker is going to be standing across from them in a ladder match in New Orleans.
Then came the brass knuckles.
Maxxine Dupri and Logan Paul attempted to get the weapon to Austin Theory, but the plan spectacularly backfired. Evans got his hands on the knuckles instead, blasted Theory while the referee wasn't looking and pinned one-half of the World Tag Team Champions.
Cheating?
Technically.
Did I enjoy watching their own plan blow up in their faces?
Also yes.
But the bigger story came afterward.
The Vision attacked again until Oba Femi arrived, bringing his issues with Bronson Reed straight into the chaos.
That's exactly what a Money in the Bank go-home show should be doing.
Don't just remind me matches are happening.
Give me reasons to want to see people hurt each other.
Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez Beat Sol Ruca & Lola Vice
Sol Ruca and Lola Vice actually found some chemistry early against Roxanne Perez and Women's Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez.
Unfortunately, chemistry only gets you so far when you accidentally punch your own partner.
Vice went for her spinning backfist and caught Ruca instead.
Oops.
Perez immediately capitalized, rolling Vice up for the victory.
I actually like this finish heading into Money in the Bank because it creates exactly the kind of instability that belongs around a ladder match.
These women can play partners tonight.
In New Orleans, they're competing for themselves.
There are no friends when a contract is hanging above your head.
Solo Sikoa Is Back
Well...
Solo survived.
After weeks of The 946 attacking The Bloodline and abducting Solo Sikoa, Roman Reigns finally stepped directly into the situation.
Adam Pearce confirmed that The Bloodline will face The 946 next week, which naturally got The Usos excited about potentially teaming with Roman again.
Except Roman had someone else in mind.
Solo Sikoa.
Solo walked back onto Raw unharmed, marking his first WWE television appearance since The 946 abducted him on September 21.
And I loved the reveal.
Not because everyone suddenly forgot the enormous amount of history between these people.
Quite the opposite.
That's why it works.
Wrestling families are complicated. Wrestling families who have spent years betraying, fighting, manipulating and occasionally trying to destroy one another are REALLY complicated.
But give them a common enemy?
Things get interesting.
Solo will now team with The Usos against The 946 next Monday while Roman focuses on LA Knight and his World Heavyweight Championship.
I don't necessarily trust everybody involved here.
Which is precisely why I want to watch.
Rey Fenix Beats Ethan Page
AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix met Ethan Page in a non-title match, continuing the increasingly visible crossover between WWE and AAA.
And give me more Fenix.
Always.
Fenix connected with a penalty kick, flew to the outside with a corkscrew splash and later planted Page with a double-underhook facebuster.
Page tried to slow the pace and nearly caught Fenix with a top-rope powerslam, but Fenix escaped.
When Page slipped free of the Mexican Muscle Buster, Fenix adjusted immediately and caught him with a roll-up for the win.
That's something I appreciate in wrestling.
Not every victory needs seventeen finishers and three kickouts.
Sometimes someone sees an opening and wins.
Fenix did exactly that.
And every time WWE puts AAA talent or championships into this environment, I'm watching how they're presented. The partnership only means something if the wrestlers themselves are allowed to mean something.
Fenix continues to feel important.
Dominik Mysterio & JD McDonagh Beat Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee
Because apparently a Mysterio family gathering can never just be normal.
Rey Mysterio teamed with Dragon Lee against Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh after tensions developed earlier in the night.
Rey looked ready to bring Dragon Lee into the match when Big Cass suddenly appeared and yanked Lee off the apron.
That distraction left Rey vulnerable.
Rey attempted the 619 on Dominik, but McDonagh caught him with a huge headbutt and scored the pin.
Then Big Cass wasn't finished.
He laid out both Rey and Dragon Lee afterward.
So congratulations, everyone.
We have another problem.
Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan Ends in Chaos
Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan were supposed to determine Stephanie Vaquer's challenger for Money in the Bank.
“Supposed to” is doing a lot of work there.
Morgan nearly stole a count-out victory after sending Becky over the announce table. Becky recovered, countered Morgan's frog splash into a DDT and eventually transitioned an armbar into the Dis-arm-her.
Morgan's solution?
Bite her.
Listen, if you're trapped and desperate...
Actually, no. I'm not recommending biting people.
Moving on.
Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez eventually arrived to help Morgan, prompting Women's World Champion Stephanie Vaquer to come down and get them ejected.
Then everything fell apart.
Becky accidentally struck Vaquer.
Vaquer responded by attacking Becky.
Then she attacked Liv too.
No-contest.
But Vaquer wasn't interested in letting that end the conversation.
Instead, she confronted Adam Pearce and demanded both women.
So now it's official:
Stephanie Vaquer will defend the Women's World Championship against Becky Lynch AND Liv Morgan in a Triple Threat Match at Money in the Bank.
And THAT is how Raw went off the air.
I like it.
Instead of spending another week debating who deserves Vaquer, put both of them in there and let Vaquer prove she can beat whoever comes after her.
Problem solved.
Well...
Until Saturday.
Final Thoughts
This Raw didn't need to reinvent anything.
It needed to sell Money in the Bank.
And it did.
Roman Reigns and LA Knight feel ready to fight.
Oba Femi and Bronson Reed have more fuel.
Penta, Je'Von Evans and Bron Breakker already look like they might start the Money in the Bank Ladder Match before anyone actually gets to New Orleans.
Rey Fenix continues giving the WWE/AAA relationship something tangible inside the ring.
Solo Sikoa is suddenly back in the middle of a Bloodline story that has somehow gotten even messier.
And Stephanie Vaquer looked at Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan fighting over who gets her and basically said:
Both.
I can respect that energy.
Money in the Bank is Saturday.
Raw did its job.
I'm ready.
