TNA iMPACT Results 10/22/26: Jason Hotch Retains, Shayna Baszler Strikes, Kiera Hogan Betrays Allie, and Destination X Takes Shape

TNA Wrestling returned to the Dothan Civic Center in Alabama on Thursday, October 22, delivering an episode of iMPACT that featured two championship defenses, an X-Division number one contender's match, a betrayal within the Knockouts Division, and several developments heading toward Destination X.

And if there's one thing Thursday's episode made clear, it's that TNA has absolutely no shortage of people looking to make enemies.

The evening's biggest in-ring attraction featured TNA International Champion Jason Hotch defending his championship against former leader Mustafa Ali in a two-out-of-three-falls match. Meanwhile, Indi Hartwell found herself dealing with considerably more than a championship defense when Daria Rae returned from suspension.

And that was only the beginning.

Daria Rae Returns, Indi Hartwell Retains, and The Apex Makes Its Presence Felt

The episode opened with the return of TNA Director of Operations Daria Rae, who wasted little time making her feelings about Santino Marella and Knockouts World Champion Indi Hartwell known.

Rae accused both of interfering with her vision for the company, prompting Hartwell to confront her.

And apparently, Daria already had something planned.

She informed Hartwell that Xia Brookside would receive her Knockouts World Championship rematch immediately.

Hartwell successfully defended her title against Brookside, but the celebration didn't last long.

Following the match, Rae distracted the champion, creating an opportunity for Shayna Baszler and Zoey Serrano to attack.

Now, this is where things become particularly interesting for me.

I've already discussed how much I appreciate TNA bringing Shayna Baszler into the Knockouts Division, and Thursday provided another example of why I believe she's such a valuable addition.

Baszler doesn't need an elaborate introduction to convince an audience she's dangerous. Her presentation, physicality, and legitimate combat sports background already establish that credibility.

Pairing her with Serrano gives TNA another threatening combination, and positioning them opposite Hartwell creates an intriguing championship dynamic.

But I hope the company remembers something important as this develops.

A dominant character becomes considerably more effective when the opposition is allowed to look credible, too.

You want the audience to believe the champion has a legitimate chance of fighting back. Otherwise, the eventual confrontation loses some of its suspense.

Winner: Indi Hartwell defeated Xia Brookside to retain the TNA Knockouts World Championship.

Cedric Alexander Earns an X-Division Championship Opportunity

The X-Division Championship picture became clearer when Cedric Alexander faced Rich Swann, KC Navarro, and Fabian Aichner in a four-way number one contender's match.

And that's an interesting collection of talent.

Each competitor brings something different to the ring, creating the kind of matchup where positioning and timing become particularly important.

In a traditional singles match, you only have one opponent to account for.

In a four-way, you can execute an excellent maneuver, establish control, and still lose because somebody else recognizes an opportunity you didn't anticipate.

That's part of what makes these matches so challenging.

Alexander ultimately secured the victory, earning an opportunity to challenge Amazing Red for the X-Division Championship.

Winner: Cedric Alexander defeated Rich Swann, KC Navarro, and Fabian Aichner to become number one contender to the TNA X-Division Championship.

Following the match, Alexander came face-to-face with Amazing Red, establishing the next championship confrontation.

And personally, I like the potential here.

Red's experience and innovative approach to wrestling make him a fascinating opponent for Alexander, whose own combination of athleticism and technical ability provides plenty of possibilities.

The System celebrated Alexander's victory backstage, although Eddie Edwards appeared less than enthusiastic.

That reaction could become important depending on how TNA chooses to develop the group's internal relationships.

Because sometimes the most interesting storyline isn't the championship match itself.

It's what happens when one member of a faction begins receiving opportunities that somebody else believes should belong to them.

Avery Styles Makes His Televised Singles Debut

Avery Styles continued establishing himself within TNA, defeating Joe Alonzo in his first televised singles match on iMPACT.

Before the encounter, Matt and Jeff Hardy offered Styles their encouragement.

Winner: Avery Styles defeated Joe Alonzo.

Debuts are always interesting to me because they're an opportunity to establish more than somebody's athletic ability.

The audience needs a reason to remember the performer.

A distinctive presentation, recognizable personality, or particular approach to wrestling can accomplish considerably more than simply executing an impressive sequence of moves.

And while winning your first televised singles match is certainly a positive beginning, the important question is what follows.

Because professional wrestling is full of people who can perform.

The challenge is becoming somebody the audience wants to see perform again.

Kiera Hogan Betrays Allie as Shotzi Blackheart Makes the Save

One of the evening's biggest storyline developments came from the former Knockouts World Tag Team Champions.

Following their championship loss at Bound For Glory, Allie and Kiera Hogan addressed the state of their partnership.

Allie wanted another opportunity to regain the titles.

Hogan, however, apparently had something else in mind.

She accused Allie of being a burden and made it clear that she was tired of carrying their team.

Then things escalated.

Tasha Steelz attacked Allie, revealing her involvement in the confrontation and leaving the former partners on opposite sides of an increasingly personal situation.

But Allie wasn't left completely alone.

Shotzi Blackheart arrived to make the save.

And now we have a storyline with several interesting possibilities.

I appreciate betrayals when they reveal something meaningful about the characters involved rather than existing solely for shock value.

Hogan's frustration gives the situation a personal foundation, while Steelz's involvement creates an additional layer of hostility.

And introducing Shotzi gives Allie a potential ally with an entirely different personality.

That's the kind of combination that can create entertaining television.

But what matters now is the follow-through.

If Hogan genuinely believes she's been carrying Allie, let that resentment become part of their rivalry.

Give both women opportunities to explain their perspectives.

Make the eventual confrontation feel personal.

Because the best betrayals don't simply make audiences gasp.

They give audiences a reason to care about what happens next.

Destination X Takes Shape With Ultimate X and the World X-Cup

Santino Marella also made several significant announcements concerning TNA's upcoming Destination X event.

The Knockouts Division will participate in an Ultimate X match, with the winner earning a future Knockouts World Championship opportunity.

And that's a stipulation that immediately creates expectations.

Ultimate X has long been associated with the athleticism and innovation that helped establish TNA's identity.

Bringing the Knockouts into that environment provides another opportunity to demonstrate the division's versatility.

But as someone who has spent years analyzing professional wrestling, I hope the emphasis remains on telling a compelling story rather than simply creating increasingly dangerous moments.

Spectacular maneuvers are wonderful.

But they mean considerably more when there's a purpose behind them.

Marella also announced the return of the World X-Cup for 2026.

The competition will feature two four-way matches involving international competitors, with the winners advancing to determine the World X-Cup champion.

It's another opportunity for TNA to showcase different wrestling styles and introduce audiences to performers they might not ordinarily encounter.

And that's something I believe the company should continue embracing.

Professional wrestling is an international business, and the differences between wrestling cultures are part of what makes it so interesting.

The more opportunities audiences have to experience those differences, the better.

Elsewhere in the Knockouts Division, M By Elegance declared herself the leader of The Elegance Brand.

Elayna Black confronted her about a Knockouts Television Championship opportunity, but Jada Stone also entered the conversation. M ultimately selected Stone as her next challenger.

Meanwhile, Harley Hudson thanked The Righteous for their recent involvement in her career, with the group indicating that they expected an answer from her next week.

The episode also featured John Skyler confronting AJ Francis backstage, establishing a match between the two for next week's iMPACT.

Jason Hotch Retains the International Championship Against Mustafa Ali

The evening's main event featured Jason Hotch defending the TNA International Championship against Mustafa Ali in a two-out-of-three-falls match.

And there's an interesting psychological element to this particular rivalry.

Hotch isn't simply another champion attempting to turn away a challenger.

He's defending the championship against someone who previously occupied a position of authority in his career.

That history creates an entirely different dynamic.

When two wrestlers have an established relationship, especially one involving leadership and loyalty, the eventual confrontation can become considerably more personal.

And the championship only raises the stakes.

Ali entered the encounter looking to reclaim control of the situation, while Hotch had an opportunity to demonstrate that his success wasn't dependent on his former leader.

Hotch ultimately emerged victorious, retaining the TNA International Championship.

Winner: Jason Hotch defeated Mustafa Ali in a two-out-of-three-falls match to retain the TNA International Championship.

And that's a meaningful victory for the champion.

Because defeating someone who once held influence over your career can represent more than simply adding another successful title defense to your record.

It can establish a new direction for your character.

For Hotch, Thursday's victory provides an opportunity to continue developing his identity as champion without remaining defined exclusively by his history with Ali.

Whether that rivalry is finished remains to be seen.

But the championship is still around Hotch's waist.

And that's ultimately the result that matters most.

Final Thoughts

Thursday's iMPACT wasn't simply about championship defenses.

It was about positioning.

Indi Hartwell retained her title but now has The Apex looming over her shoulder. Cedric Alexander earned an opportunity against Amazing Red. Kiera Hogan turned against Allie, with Shotzi entering the situation. And Jason Hotch successfully defended the International Championship against his former leader.

Meanwhile, Destination X is beginning to take shape with the return of Ultimate X and the World X-Cup.

And I think that's an important distinction when evaluating weekly wrestling television.

Not every episode needs to deliver a match-of-the-year contender.

Sometimes its greatest responsibility is giving the audience compelling reasons to return the following week.

Thursday accomplished that by creating several opportunities for the roster to develop new rivalries, establish motivations, and move toward meaningful confrontations.

Now the challenge is making those developments count.

Because professional wrestling isn't simply about what happens tonight.

It's about making the audience care enough to come back tomorrow.

And TNA has certainly given its Knockouts Division, championship contenders, and several emerging rivalries plenty to work with.
