TAELER: Roman’s Right About the Locker Room — Access Isn’t What It Used to Be

Roman Reigns said something this week that a lot of people who’ve actually been in a locker room already knew.

Talking to Complex, he said he feels a responsibility now to tap into the future. Let the next group get some of his experience, his mindset, whatever it is that made his version of this job work. Then he said the quiet part.

He’s not sitting in the middle of the roster anymore.

He pointed at The Undertaker. Before the buses became the whole travel system, Taker was just… there. Same locker room. Same nights. You could catch him if you had the nerve to walk over. Roman called it a godfather effect. That’s a good way to put it. You don’t get that when the top guy flies a different schedule than the people trying to learn from him.

Roman’s not wrong. He’s World Heavyweight Champion and he’s been around TV more because of that, but he’s not living the same week as a midcard guy on the live events loop. Different hotels. Different flights. Different call times. You can respect somebody from across the arena and still never get five honest minutes with them.

I felt that shift even when I was still wrestling. The veterans who taught you anything usually taught you in the middle of all the chaos. After dark matches. On a two-hour ride. Sitting on a case of water because there weren’t enough chairs. You can’t schedule that. You can’t put it in a performance center module and call it the same thing.

So when Roman says these guys can’t really use him as a resource the way people used Taker, I believe him. That’s not an excuse. It’s just the job now. Part-time main eventers. Charter flights. Separate worlds under the same banner.

The part I respect is that he said he still feels like he should try. A lot of people in his position don’t even pretend. They show up, they work the match, they leave. If he’s going to be the guy holding the big title in 2026, the useful version of that is not another promo about legacy. It’s him actually sitting still long enough for somebody to ask a real question.

Access is the whole thing. Always was. The business just made it harder to get.
