New Japan Pro-Wrestling continued its 2026 Super Junior Tag League on Saturday, October 31, at Nishiyama Park Gymnasium in Nagaokakyo, Japan, where the final round of A Block competition determined which team would advance to the tournament final.
And after another evening of competitive junior heavyweight wrestling, Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X emerged victorious, although House of Torture certainly didn't make their path particularly comfortable.
With two teams finishing on eight points, the difference ultimately came down to their head-to-head tournament result. For Ishimori and Robbie X, an earlier victory over DOUKI and Yoshinobu Kanemaru proved decisive.
Ishimori and Robbie X Secure A Block:
Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X defeated KUSHIDA and Nick Wayne, collectively known as TimeSplitters V.2, in the evening's decisive tournament main event.
The victory came after Ishimori connected with Bloody Cross, securing the pinfall and bringing his team's final A Block record to four wins and one loss.
The result was particularly important because House of Torture had already reached eight points earlier in the evening. Ishimori and Robbie X needed to win to match that total and secure the block through their head-to-head advantage.
And that's precisely what they accomplished.
Having competed inside the ring, I can appreciate the difference between winning an individual match and navigating an entire tournament. Consistency matters, but so does understanding when an opportunity absolutely cannot be wasted.
Ishimori and Robbie X entered the main event knowing exactly what was at stake. They delivered when it mattered.
Their victory secured their place in the Super Junior Tag League final at NJPW Power Struggle on November 3.
House of Torture Wins, but Misses the Final:
DOUKI and Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated Master Wato and KUUKAI, finishing their A Block campaign with eight points and a four-win, one-loss record.
The victory came following DOUKI's Suplex de la Luna, adding another win to an impressive tournament record.
Unfortunately for House of Torture, their earlier loss to Ishimori and Robbie X proved costly.
Despite finishing level on points, DOUKI and Kanemaru were unable to claim the block because their rivals held the head-to-head advantage.
It's one of the more interesting aspects of tournament wrestling. You can finish with the same record as another team, but the circumstances surrounding your victories and defeats can ultimately determine whether you advance.
And for a faction that has developed a reputation for bending the rules whenever convenient, being eliminated by a straightforward tournament tiebreaker carries a certain irony.
Taguchi and Sumi Finish Strong:
Ryusuke Taguchi and Kazuma Sumi defeated Místico and Masatora Yasuda in the evening's other A Block encounter.
The victory came by submission and allowed Taguchi and Sumi to finish their tournament campaign with six points, placing them third in A Block.
Although neither team advanced to the final, the result provided Taguchi and Sumi with a positive conclusion to their tournament.
For Místico and Yasuda, their campaign ended with two points after one victory and four defeats...

What's Next for Super Junior Tag League?
With A Block decided, attention shifts to the conclusion of B Block on November 1.
Three teams entered the final stage of B Block competition tied on six points: Robbie Eagles and Kosei Fujita, Blake Christian and Lee Johnson, and YOH and HYO.
The eventual B Block winner will face Ishimori and Robbie X in the tournament final at Power Struggle on November 3.
But here's the question: Does the momentum of winning a block provide a genuine advantage heading into the final, or does the pressure of being one victory away from the championship change everything?
Ishimori and Robbie X have demonstrated that consistency matters, but advancing through a tournament and winning its final are two entirely different accomplishments.
They've earned their opportunity.
Now they have to finish the job...
