TAELER: MLW Results (10/29/26): Riddle Advances, Kross Raises the Stakes

MLW Fusion returned to Tubi on October 29 with three matches, two Opera Cup quarterfinals, and a heavyweight championship situation that continues getting more complicated. Because apparently having one dangerous challenger isn't enough when you can create problems with several...

Matt Riddle defeated Ikuro Kwon to advance in the Opera Cup, keeping his tournament ambitions alive. Riddle's experience and versatility make him a serious contender, but the most intriguing development involved his ongoing tension with Austin Aries. Earlier in the broadcast, Aries dismissed the remaining tournament field, prompting another confrontation with Riddle. The two agreed to a match, adding another chapter to their increasingly personal disagreement.

I'm very curious about this bout. They have vastly different styles that could prove beautiful in the ring or a beautiful disaster. Riddle will need to keep Aries grounded and Aries will need to do his best to not get caught by Riddle. Almost like a high-flying hard-hitting game of cat and mouse. Definitely no love lost here...

I'd tune in for this bout and Kross versus Dijak alone. But to be honest, MLW is doing some really cool things here.

And that's where tournament storytelling becomes interesting. Winning the Opera Cup requires more than confidence. It demands consistency, adaptability, and the ability to perform when the stakes continue rising. Aries certainly doesn't lack confidence, but Riddle appears equally uninterested in accepting anyone else's assessment of his abilities.

LaBron Kozone defeated Diego Hill in the evening's other Opera Cup quarterfinal, securing his place in the next stage of the tournament. Meanwhile, Wolfgang defeated Beastman in a heavyweight encounter that reinforced the physical presence of the Glasgow Boys.

Outside the ring, the promotion continued developing several important rivalries. Masha Slamovich challenged ZAMAYA to a confrontation in Chicago, while Shotzi and ZAMAYA exchanged words during an interview. ZAMAYA's response suggested she was more interested in selecting her next target than making friends. In professional wrestling, that's generally a fairly effective way to ensure you won't have many.

The Glasgow Boys also continued antagonizing the Good Brothers through an especially disrespectful stunt involving a stolen jacket. I'm very curious to see what the Glasgow Boys will do next! I've been enjoying their work so far. Meanwhile, MLW World Heavyweight Champion Killer Kross announced that he would defend against Dijak on next week's Fusion, introducing another significant development ahead of Saturday Night SuperFight.

Perhaps the most important question concerns the Skyscrapers. With Josh Bishop and Dijak already experiencing tension, what happens when individual championship ambitions begin threatening the partnership itself? Two physically imposing competitors can create an intimidating alliance, but size and strength won't resolve disagreements about who's supposed to lead. It reminds of the phrase: the bigger they are the harder they fall...

With Kozone and Riddle advancing, the Opera Cup picture is becoming clearer. The championship landscape, however, is anything but settled. And sometimes that's exactly what makes professional wrestling compelling: everyone wants the opportunity, but not everyone is prepared for the consequences of getting it.
