WWE tacked a six-woman tag onto tonight’s SmackDown, and I’m glad they did.
Fatal Influence — Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid — are going up against Tiffany Stratton, Chelsea Green, and Paige in Indianapolis.
That’s a personality match. Fatal Influence already know who they are together. They move like a group that’s been picking the same fight for months. The other corner is three women who don’t share a locker-room language yet, and that can work if they listen to each other. Chelsea is going to live on the mic even in a tag. Tiffany’s the one who changes the speed of the room. Paige has been doing this long enough to hold a match together when it starts going of the rails.
I like seeing the women get a real segment on a Friday that isn’t just a qualifier and a walkout. Six-woman tags only fall flat when nobody’s allowed to finish a thought. Give them a few minutes to actually tell a story while they wrestle and this one can pop.
it’s not like the card needed padding. Money in the Bank is already leaking onto SmackDown. Finn Balor, CM Punk, and Gunther in one qualifier. Giulia, Charlotte Flair, and Lash Legend in the other. Then Trick Williams and Baron Corbin slam the cage door on the United States Title.
That’s a lot of television for one night in Indianapolis. The six-woman tag is the match I’m watching to see who uses the time and who just survives it.
