Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre celebrated Día de Muertos at Arena México on Friday, October 30, delivering an evening of championship competition, international appearances, and the crowning of a new Rey del Inframundo.
With AEW's Darby Allin facing Hechicero, Mina Shirakawa competing against India Sioux, and four competitors battling for the Rey del Inframundo Championship, CMLL offered another reminder that some of professional wrestling's most compelling stories are unfolding outside the American television landscape.
Xelhua Captures the Rey del Inframundo Championship:
Xelhua emerged victorious in the evening's four-way elimination main event, defeating Ráfaga Jr., Calavera Jr. I, and defending champion Guerrero Maya Jr. to become the new CMLL Rey del Inframundo Champion.
Representing Puebla, Xelhua secured the championship by submitting Ráfaga Jr., ending Guerrero Maya Jr.'s reign and claiming one of CMLL's distinctive annual honors.
Championship victories carry a particular kind of importance because they provide competitors with opportunities to establish themselves beyond individual rivalries. Winning one match is impressive. Emerging from a competitive field with a championship attached to your name creates something considerably more valuable: momentum.
For Xelhua, the victory represents an important accomplishment and another opportunity to establish himself within CMLL's competitive landscape.
Hechicero Defeats Darby Allin:
Hechicero secured a victory over AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin in one of the evening's most intriguing international encounters.
The matchup brought together two competitors with dramatically different approaches to wrestling. Allin's willingness to sacrifice his body has become a defining characteristic of his career, while Hechicero's technical creativity and ability to manipulate opponents make him particularly dangerous.
Hechicero secured the victory with a guillotine leg drop, pinning Allin in what marked the AEW star's CMLL debut.
The result also provided Hechicero with a measure of revenge following their previous encounter on AEW Collision.
There's something particularly satisfying about seeing a wrestler capitalize on an opportunity in front of their home promotion's audience. International appearances can generate considerable excitement, but those opportunities should also reinforce the credibility of the promotion hosting the event.
Hechicero accomplished exactly that.
Mina Shirakawa Defeats India Sioux:
AEW's Mina Shirakawa defeated India Sioux in another international singles encounter, securing the victory by submission.
The matchup added another chapter to the ongoing relationship between CMLL and AEW, particularly as both promotions continue creating opportunities for women's wrestling across international audiences.
Shirakawa's victory was significant, but India Sioux's participation also provided valuable exposure for a competitor establishing herself within CMLL's women's division.

International Wrestling Deserves International Attention
CMLL's continuing involvement with performers from AEW and other international promotions creates valuable opportunities for audiences to discover different wrestling traditions.
But exposure should work in both directions.
While recognizable American television personalities can attract additional attention to Mexican wrestling, CMLL's established performers deserve the same opportunities to demonstrate their abilities to international audiences.
Hechicero's victory over Darby Allin is a meaningful example of that balance.
And with Xelhua capturing the Rey del Inframundo Championship, the evening also demonstrated the importance of creating opportunities for CMLL's own roster to establish new stars.
After all, international partnerships should be about more than borrowing familiar names. They should provide opportunities for exceptional wrestlers to become familiar names themselves with a stellar mesh of styles...
