TAELER: Bound for Glory’s Tampa Card Is Filling In — And the Knockouts Title Is Now Official

TNA updated the Bound for Glory card, and the one that jumped out at me first wasn’t even the world title.

October 11. Yuengling Center. Tampa. Xia Brookside is defending the Knockouts World Title against Indi Hartwell.

I always pay attention when a women’s title match gets added this close to a company’s biggest show of the year. It means they finally decided that match belongs on the poster, not just on Thursday night TV. Brookside’s been carrying that belt. Hartwell’s been in the middle of the noise around the division. That’s a real fight if they let it be one.

The main event is still Nic Nemeth versus Leon Slater for the TNA World Title. Slater vacated the X-Division Championship to use Option C. That’s a young guy betting his year on one night. I’ve seen that choice from both sides of the curtain. It’s brave. It’s also the kind of night that can follow you if it doesn’t go your way. Nemeth is the champion for a reason. Slater’s asking the building to believe he’s next.

Because Slater stepped up, the X-Division Title is vacant. Bound for Glory gets a scramble: Fabian Aichner, KC Navarro, Cedric Alexander, Rich Swann, Ryan Nemeth, and one more spot still to be filled. That’s a lot of speed in one match. If they treat it like an X-Division match and not a traffic jam, it could steal the show.

Also on the card: Eddie Edwards versus Ricky Sosa. No title. Just two guys who know how to make a singles match feel like it cost something.

The Call Your Shot Gauntlet is back. Bear Bronson, Frankie Kazarian, and Avery Styles are in so far. Styles is making his TNA in-ring debut in that thing, which is a lot to ask of somebody on night one, but gauntlets have always been where new names get remembered or get lost. Winner gets the trophy and can cash it in whenever they want. That prize has made and wrecked more than one year in this company.

They’re also putting ODB, Amazing Red, and Konnan in the Hall of Fame that night. Different eras. All three left fingerprints on TNA. The card’s not done. It never is this far out. But the shape of the show is there now. The world title, Knockouts title, a vacant X-Division belt, a gauntlet, and a Hall of Fame class. That’s a Bound for Glory.
