InDex Reunites! Indi Hartwell and Samuel Shaw Ambush Killer Kross and Scarlett at ACW Mischief Night 2
Apparently, love isn't dead. It's just been waiting for the right opportunity to jump somebody.
Independent wrestling delivered an unexpected reunion Saturday night, October 17, when Indi Hartwell and Samuel Shaw, formerly known as Dexter Lumis in WWE, reunited at Awesome Championship Wrestling's Mischief Night 2 in Poughkeepsie, New York. And unfortunately for Killer Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux, this wasn't exactly a friendly trip down memory lane.
Kross had just successfully defended his ACW Heavyweight Championship against Joseph Sawyer, formerly known as Joe Gacy, in a No Disqualification match. But Sawyer wasn't finished after the bell. The confrontation escalated when Hartwell appeared, drawing everyone's attention long enough for Shaw to launch a surprise attack. With Sawyer joining the assault, Kross and Scarlett suddenly found themselves on the receiving end of a three-on-two beatdown.
For longtime WWE NXT fans, seeing Hartwell and Shaw standing together again brought back memories of InDex, one of the more entertaining and unconventional romances of the black-and-gold era. Their relationship storyline eventually led to a televised wedding in September 2021, complete with all the wonderfully ridiculous chaos that professional wrestling does so well. Five years later, the couple is back together on screen, only this time they're making life miserable for Kross and Scarlett.
Scarlett, however, wasn't about to let the situation end there. After the attack, she grabbed a microphone and challenged Hartwell and Shaw to face herself and Kross in a mixed tag team match. As of this writing, a date and location for that potential confrontation have not been confirmed.
Personally, I love seeing independent promotions take advantage of established wrestling history like this. As someone who's spent years working the independent circuit, I know how valuable these moments can be. You're giving longtime fans a connection they already care about while introducing newer audiences to a rivalry that doesn't require six weeks of television to explain. And let's not overlook ACW here. Mischief Night 2 also featured Shotzi Blackheart capturing the ACW Women's Championship, The Righteous winning the tag titles, and Leo Sparrow becoming Cruiserweight Champion. That's a pretty eventful night for one independent promotion.
Now, with InDex back together, Scarlett demanding revenge, and Kross having unfinished business with Shaw and Sawyer, there's plenty of potential for this rivalry to develop. Whether it remains an ACW attraction or eventually spills into another promotion remains to be seen. Either way, somebody has a score to settle, and with Killer Kross involved, I suspect the next encounter could be absolutely killer.
